Old drivers evaluate Volkswagen CC(2021 copy evaluation video of Volkswagen replication)

Volkswagen, who has been deeply involved in the China market for many years, has always understood the needs of consumers. The space is sufficient, the ride is comfortable, the performance is moderate, and the price is firm, but it is almost normal for all products produced by the public to become explosions.

In this issue, our protagonist, FAW-Volkswagen CC, known as "the most beautiful Volkswagen", entered the market under the label of individuality and sports, but the result was that it was too high and too few, and failed to successfully detonate sales. Is it a bright shot in the dark or a mediocre qualification? Or is it bound by the market? In this issue of "Understanding Car Emperor Evaluation", we will take you to uncover the true face of CC.

The model we tested this time is FAW-Volkswagen CC 380TSI Yaoyan Edition, which is equipped with the third generation EA888 engine and matched with the seven-speed wet powershift code-named DQ380. The maximum power is 162 kW and the maximum torque is 350 Nm. It can be said that we are already familiar with the ingredients, and the medium-sized cars such as Magotan and Passat of Volkswagen family all use this powertrain.

But even if the same raw materials are used, different dishes are made by different cooking methods. Will there be a unique adjustment for 100 ml to create driving pleasure? Or is it just a plain grocery cart? The results on the test field are the most convincing.

Basic performance test

At Jingang circuit, CC scored a lap time of one minute, 26.76 seconds. On the long straight line, EA888 high-power engine still showed its strength, and the tail speed of the long straight line reached 144.01 km/h, and the power was the first contributor to its lap speed creation.

However, in the continuous flight circle, the braking level of cc has not been maintained all the time, and the driver feedback cc gradually appears the phenomenon of braking force decline in the latter part. Combined with the track performance, the braking distance of CC is acceptable, but it is not suitable for continuous intense driving.

At the high-speed corner of the last car in the Know Car Emperor circuit, the bending center speed of 94. 4 km/h was copied, and the body roll was controlled within a reasonable range, but the rear was slightly unstable.

In the acceleration test, the acceleration time of 0-100 km/h is 7.18 seconds, which is considered as the leading level in the 2.0T models we have evaluated. The 0-400 m acceleration takes 15.23 seconds, and the line rushing speed is 155.14 km/h. However, during the test, the cc also exposed problems. After starting, it will have obvious tire jumping phenomenon, and there will be a strong shift impact when shifting from 2 to 3, and the ride comfort of the whole acceleration process is not good.

After six consecutive braking success tests from 100 km/h to 0, CC's best braking performance is 36.39 meters, and its posture is relatively stable, and its performance is above average. Our CC front wheel is equipped with ventilated brake discs, and a set of 19-inch rims and Goodyear EAGLE F1 tires are selected, which greatly helps the braking performance of the whole car.

However, in the elk test to test the stability of vehicle handling in an emergency, the performance of Volkswagen CC made us somewhat unexpected, and the highest passing speed was only 66.2 km/h. In the process of turning from area A to area B, the intervention of ESP is too late and unpredictable, and the car body is prone to irreparable large-scale side slip. Although the model we tested is equipped with Volkswagen DCC dynamic chassis control system, the sports chassis mode can't do anything about it.

Smart lines, sharp modeling and low-lying body are all concentrated in one car, and people will always have infinite reverie about its performance. However, the performance in the track and test field proves that CC is not a driving machine that can bring full fun, although its performance is acceptable. The tire limit came too early, the obvious push, the fuzzy shift of center of gravity and the thermal recession in the track all exposed the essence of its family car. Want to experience speed and passion? CC is not the right choice.

Driving experience and fuel consumption test

Bringing this CC back to life, it feels no surprise to drive, but it can't find anything wrong. The power reserve of 220 horsepower is abundant in daily driving, the power output in the front section is gentle, the abrupt feeling of turbine intervention is not obvious, and the power output in the middle section is strong, giving people a strong sense of pushing back. The accelerator and brake pedal have some virtual positions in the front section, but they are easily controlled by the driver. DQ380 wet gearbox is excellent in shifting speed and shifting logic. As for smoothness and frustration, this gearbox has been optimized well now, and the low-speed frustration problem is not obvious in this car.

This car has five driving modes to adjust, but whether it is economical, comfortable, standard or sports mode, the steering feel is a little light, which makes it difficult to arouse driving passion. Especially when moving the car or driving at a low speed, there is almost no righting force. As the speed increases, the feedback will be stronger. But the accuracy of pointing is not high, and the overall style is still prepared for easy driving.

The CC we tested is equipped with a 15-speed DCC adaptive suspension with adjustable hardness. From extreme comfort to extreme sports, we can still feel the obvious difference. At the comfortable end, the chassis is better for filtering small vibrations on the road surface. Of course, there is still no way to be flat on the ground for larger impacts. At the moving end, you can feel that the feedback of the road surface is clearer and the support strength of the suspension is more sufficient.

This CC is equipped with ACC 3.0 advanced adaptive cruise system. After practical experience, it can realize the functions of lane keeping and adaptive cruise. The activation method is simple, but the vehicle centering ability, braking timing, linear degree of re-acceleration, lane line recognition rate and other aspects are only at the middle level, lacking bright spots. Urban automatic emergency pre-collision protection system, lane change assistance system, rear traffic early warning system, intelligent fatigue monitoring system and other functions are relatively complete, which can meet the needs of safe driving.

Of course, we also tested the comprehensive fuel consumption performance of this CC. We also filled up the fuel from Sihai Bridge, the mileage was cleared, and the air conditioner was automatic at 24 degrees. We chose the most economical driving mode, driving along the Fourth Ring Road and the Third Ring Road in Beijing, driving on the Sixth Ring Road via Fushi Road and then transferring to Badaling Expressway. Finally, we arrived at the gas station near Badaling Airport to fill up the fuel tank again, and got the measured comprehensive fuel consumption data.

Finally, it took us 3 hours and 18 minutes to complete the test route, with a total mileage of 202 kilometers, including 112.5 kilometers in urban conditions and an average speed of 48.3 kilometers per hour. Driving at high speed is 89.5 kilometers, with an average speed of 81.4 kilometers per hour. A total of 92.47 yuan was spent, and 13.74 liters of No.95 gasoline was consumed. The measured comprehensive fuel consumption was only 6.8 liters/100 kilometers. However, this achievement was greatly affected by the recent smooth road conditions, which was different from the actual use.

Exterior interior

In this era of looking at the face, it is also very competitive to look good, which is also the reason for many CC car owners to buy. Ten years ago, the first generation CC was amazing and won the Red Dot Design Award, which was called "the most beautiful Volkswagen". And our second-generation CC, it is hard to say that it has surpassed the previous generation, but it still maintains a fairly high standard. In the face of a lot of boring "money-making machines", it can be regarded as a clean stream.

The shiny layered rock front grille is gorgeous and layered, and the top two layers are integrated with daytime running lights, which highlights the visual width of the front of the car and creates a fierce momentum. Although there is no R-Line version of the domestic CC, it is still very special among the Volkswagen models with a family front face. Looking at the side of the car body, CC's slightly rising waistline and gently slipping back, textbooks generally explain the true meaning of coupe modeling. Silver rearview mirrors and frameless doors add elegance. Of course, there is also a duckling tail, which enhances the dynamics of the car body.

But as soon as you get into the CC car, you will definitely spit out that the designer Volkswagen is very bad. He spent money to buy the appearance of small fresh meat, but he stuffed you with a set of interior of Magotan. The quartz watch with middle-aged temperament is put in the middle, which really doesn't suit the appetite of young people's design. Instruments, air conditioners, car machines, and various display layouts are all old routines of the public. In the car, the difference can only be felt through the small details such as white and gray color matching seats, yellow stitching, shift paddles and imitation carbon fiber plaques.

The configuration options of CC are very rich. Our car is equipped with Dana stereo, steering wheel heating, 10-color ambient light, air purifier, front seat heating massage and electric tailgate, and there is even a hidden CD player in the glove box. Simply speaking, the configuration can compete with the 3 series, A4L and C grades. However, it is not without slots. For example, the definition of 360-degree images is not very high, the "patch" design displayed on the head-up is somewhat inferior, and the texture of various buttons is also average. Therefore, CC is obviously different from luxury brands in the whole car, maintaining the simple style and practicality of the public, but there is no sense of luxury.

Space and practical convenience

The length, width and height of CC are 4864 mm, 1870 mm and 1447 mm respectively, and the wheelbase is 2841 mm, which is at the mainstream level of the same level in size. But only when you sit in CC can you realize that the name of comfortable coupe makes sense. For the experiencer who is 1.88 meters tall, after the sitting posture is adjusted in the front row, the space in the back row is still very ample. Slip-back modeling has little impact on space. Of course, the problem still exists. Although it is called panoramic skylight, it can't take care of the back row. Because of the shape, the rear window can't be completely put down.

In terms of practicality and convenience, the space of CC's glove box is not bad, and there are knobs to adjust the air volume of the air conditioner. The armrest box is small and there is a small bill box on the left hand side. There are two cup holders beside the handle, but I don't know what to do if I want to put my mobile phone, and it's not suitable anywhere. The storage design of the front and rear rows of door panels has been flocked, and the space is quite large and kind. In addition, there are two cup holders when the central armrest in the back row is opened, and there is also a storage bag behind the seat to meet the general practical needs at home.

There are three traditional USB-A charging ports and two 12-volt power supplies in the CC car, and both the front and rear rows are taken care of. The interior of the trunk is flat, and the shape of the sliding back makes the opening height higher, and the depth can also be proud of the same level. After the actual measurement, there is still some space after loading two 28-inch, one 24-inch and one 20-inch suitcases, which is absolutely enough for traveling. The back row supports 4/6 ratio down, and a channel can be opened in the middle, which is flexible.


After a few days together, we seem to have found the reason why CC failed to make people flock to it. In addition to its bright face value, it is essentially a stable family car. It is not outstanding basic performance, dull driving experience, and does not lose the space size of the same level, but it confirms its name-Comfort Coupe.

But is this really what consumers want? Where are the 280 horsepower and 4MOTION four-wheel drive systems of Volkswagen Arteon in overseas markets? Where is the R-Line suite? This coupe, which was originally handsome, sporty and unconventional, is not so pure. A new generation of CC is like a beautifully packaged drink. After you open it cheerfully, you find that the taste is the same as the boiled water in the thermos, and there is a big gap between expectation and reality.
