As the first coupe SUV of Weilai NT2 platform, the arrival of Weilai EC7 undoubtedly further expands the product matrix of the whole brand, and at the same time, it forms a combination boxing of a 400,000-class pure electric coupe sport utility vehicle with EC6. So how to choose EC6 and EC7? Officials say that EC6 will be more suitable for young people, while EC7 is more suitable for mature and successful people. At present, there is not much specific information about the new generation EC6, so I won't make too many comments here.
But for consumers, I personally think the answer is actually very simple. Unless you prefer the design of EC6, if the budget is sufficient, choose EC7 because it is more refined and advanced. As for space, configuration and power, neither will let you down.
Further challenge the traditional luxury brands.
The high oil price has caused many consumers to turn to the embrace of electric vehicles. However, for car buyers with a budget of 500,000 yuan, oil price is not the first factor they consider. Service, texture, freshness, intelligence, brand tonality and so on will all become the source of their impulse to swipe their cards.
In the past, the same 500,000 budget wanted to choose a luxury SUV, and first-line luxury brands such as Mercedes-Benz GLC, Audi Q5 and BMW X3 were undoubtedly the first choice. But today's consumers are more rational, and the power experience, ride comfort and quietness brought by pure electric vehicles are incomparable to fuel vehicles.

Although there are Mercedes-Benz EQC, Audi Q5 e-tron and BMW iX3 now, it can be seen from the bleak sales that these pure electric vehicles have not accurately grasped the needs of consumers in China. Under the sweeping wave of intelligence, the pace of these traditional car companies obviously lags behind the domestic new power brands.

In terms of marketing channels and service system, the traditional 4S shop model is also being impacted. When the traditional luxury brand giants are still selling electric cars with the idea of fuel cars and maintaining their bodies in a cold posture, Weilai has taken away their customers with the original fast power exchange mode and sincere door-to-door service. Compare with other independent new forces
Today's domestic pure electric vehicles are embarrassed to say hello to their peers if they don't sell for 400 thousand or 500 thousand. In the range of 400,000-600,000, there are actually several models with very strong strength.
Aouita 11
Aouita 11 is jointly built by Changan, Huawei and Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited. It has Huawei's full-stack intelligent scheme, which can realize NCA intelligent driving navigation assistance for urban roads. The cockpit also has Huawei's HarmonyOS system car. Weilai EC7 will soon open the NAD navigation assistance function, and cover urban areas, high-speed, parking, power exchange and other scenes.

In addition, Aouita 11 also offers four-seat versions, which make the rear passengers get the ultimate comfortable ride experience. Although Weilai EC7 does not provide a four-seat version, the queen's seat of the co-pilot can achieve zero-gravity lying mode.

Aouita 11 and Weilai EC7 have excellent performances in intelligence and comfort. However, in contrast, Weilai EC7 has larger size, higher dynamic parameters and the advantage of power exchange. Of course, the price of EC7 is also higher.
Zhiji LS7
Zhiji is a high-end pure electric brand owned by SAIC, and LS7 is a newly-launched "online celebrity" model. In addition, the brand awareness is still relatively weak, and the strength of the whole vehicle is comparable to that of Weilai EC7.

The starting price of Gaohe HIX can already buy the top of Weilai EC7, but the intelligent driving ability is relatively conventional. For this level of vehicles, let's not talk about the price/performance ratio, and personal preference is greater than everything.
Driving and control experience
In terms of power, Weilai EC7 is equipped with a four-wheel drive system with two motors. The maximum power of the front motor is 180kW, the maximum power of the rear motor is 300kW, the total power is 480kW, and the maximum torque reaches 850 Nm. This is already a proper super-running performance for fuel vehicles, but it is not surprising on trams. The official acceleration time of zero hundred is only 3.8 seconds.

EC7 comes standard with air suspension and CDC intelligent dynamic damping system. Through the combination of different characteristics of power system and chassis system, four different driving modes can be formed: comfort, energy saving, sports and sports+. In addition, there is a personalized mode. You can choose all these combinations and fix them, and you can reach them with one click when necessary.

Although EC7 is a model with a biased positioning, its body size is not small, and as a pure electric SUV, although the battery lowers the center of gravity, the body is relatively high, and when the suspension is soft, the turning roll is still very obvious.

However, when the suspension is adjusted to the softest, the vibration filtering performance of the whole chassis is really excellent, and it is very comfortable after any road bumps. When you travel with your family, you can adjust it to the softest and the chassis to the highest, so it is no problem to complete some light off-road conditions.

However, if you are driving alone, I suggest you minimize its body, and then adjust the suspension to the hardest, so that you will become more confident when you shuttle through the traffic and feel more integrated with people and vehicles. Although it turns a corner quickly, its center of gravity shift can still be obviously obtained. However, compared with the soft feeling of comfort mode, the control is much sharper.

The electric tail will automatically rise when the speed reaches 80km/h, but if I am the owner, I will open it manually when I get on the bus. After all, the psychological satisfaction brought by this tail is much greater than the actual downward pressure.

The feeling of brake foot is a place I like very much on Weilai EC7. Its brake pedal is very light, but it is not that kind of nihility. The pedal is very soft but very linear, and the output of braking force is also in place, so it is very easy to control. It won't feel like stepping lightly, but stepping a little more will turn into a sudden stop.

For a 500,000-class pure electric vehicle, there is no doubt about its quietness. Weilai EC7 can be described as quiet when driving in urban areas, which is one of the reasons why more and more people like trams nowadays. Not everyone likes the deafening exhaust sound. Even on the highway, the wind noise is well suppressed, and the people in the car can talk freely without deliberately raising the volume.

Generally speaking, Weilai EC7 is a very pleasant tram to drive. No matter what handling characteristics you like, you can combine power, steering, suspension and braking to find the most suitable way for you. Trams are generally easy to drive, but Weilai EC7 can understand you better.
Design interpretation
The new cars of Weilai NT2 platform, from ET7 to ET5, ES7 and so on, basically have the same design, and coming to EC7 is no exception. However, you can also know from the name that it is a coupe version of ES7, so the main difference lies in the back of the car.

Weilai EC7 has a bright spot in styling, that is, its ultra-low wind resistance is only 0.23Cd. The official said that it is the SUV with the lowest wind resistance coefficient in the world. Shark Nose shark nose at the front of the car, the shape of sliding back and the smooth body surface are all reasons for its low wind resistance.

It can be found that the side of its body, unlike other Weilai models, is designed with some corners and lines, but very flat and smooth. Since Weilai ET7, the watchtower on the roof and the horns on both sides have become a symbol of the strength of intelligent hardware. Some people think that the layout of lidar above the front windshield is too abrupt, but compared with the layout placed on the front bumper, this layout will have a better perception effect on road information, and also avoid the risk of high maintenance costs caused by minor collisions.

In terms of intelligence, the Weilai Aquila extrasensory system carried by EC7 is equipped with as many as 33 high-performance sensors, including one ultra-long-range high-precision laser radar, seven 8-megapixel cameras, four 3-megapixel cameras, five millimeter-wave radars, 12 ultrasonic radars, two high-precision positioning units, one vehicle-road cooperative sensing and one enhanced driving sensing.

In addition, the whole system comes standard with four Orin X chips, which finally reaches 1016TOPS. With powerful hardware, intelligent driving will naturally not be ambiguous. Weilai EC7 will open high-speed, urban, parking and other scenes one after another, as well as the newly released third-generation power station, which can also realize automatic docking and power exchange through this function in the future.

There is also an artifact in the shape, which is the liftable tail. It has two heights, 80 per hour will raise the first gear, and 170 per hour will raise the second gear. Of course, you can also manually drive it to the second gear at any speed. After all, how much downforce the tail can increase is not the owner's main concern, but whether it can be lifted at any time you want is the key.

In terms of interior, Weilai EC7 is built on Qualcomm's third-generation digital cockpit computing platform. The whole system comes standard with HUD enhanced head-up display system, 10.2-inch HDR instrument screen, 12.8-inch AMOLED central control screen and 6.6-inch HDR multifunctional control screen in the back row, which can realize multi-screen interaction.

The central control design is consistent with ES7, which continues the cockpit design concept of Weilai Second Living Room. The hidden air conditioning belt makes the whole central control very simple and beautiful, and its tuyere is facing directly above, so this design is quite humanized. NOMI, the interactive robot on Weilai EC7, has also become smarter than other models, and the interaction is more emotional. The functions that can be controlled are increased one by one, including lifting the tail wing, which can also be controlled by NOMI.
