The wheel hub oxidation was seriously refused by the manufacturer, and the owner was quite disappointed with Dongfeng Peugeot.

By October 2019, the oxidation spots of the four wheels had developed into peeling off. The owner, Mr. Xu, described to the reporter that it felt tingling with his hands. At the same time, he also said that he had never used any tire wax, and there was no corrosion by related products. Except for the slight rubbing of the right front wheel hub, the other three wheels have never been rubbed or collided, so there is no possibility of external injury.

Mr. Xu told the reporter that although his 408 has been purchased for almost three years, the usual utilization rate is very low. At present, it has only been opened for more than 30,000 kilometers. He is also very shocked that four wheels have such a serious skin explosion at the same time, and he is also quite disappointed with the product quality of Dongfeng Peugeot brand.

Considering that the serious oxidation problem may lead to the serious consequences of tire run-off, on November 26, 2019, the owner went to Puyang Zhimei Automobile Sales & Service Co., Ltd. in Henan Province for help. After the inspection and appraisal by the maintenance personnel of the 4S shop, it was determined that the oxidation of the three wheels of Mr. Xu's Peugeot 408 was a quality problem (except that the right front wheel hub was rubbed and could not be judged), and the 4S party also indicated that it would promptly report back to the manufacturer for a claim.

However, what Mr. Xu and others came later was the rejection of Dongfeng Peugeot manufacturer. According to Mr. Xu, after receiving the appraisal photos of the 4S shop, the manufacturer gave the feedback: "The oxidation problem is not serious, and the claim is refused." Mr. Xu, the owner of the car, expressed great anger and dissatisfaction. "Not serious, it is not a quality problem? Isn't it serious that the skin has exploded and fallen off like this? So what is the standard of' serious'? "

To this end, Mr. Xu has repeatedly called the official customer service of Dongfeng Peugeot, hoping to get a reasonable explanation, but the other party's reply is: "I will feedback the situation to the maintenance department and wait for the result." But the road to claim compensation is far away. Up to now, Mr. Xu still hasn't got a reasonable explanation from the manufacturer, and even the feedback from the manufacturer has never been received.

The manufacturer refused to reply. The 4S shop lied that it did not know that Peugeot 408 wheel hub oxidation complaints surged.

In the case of no help, Mr. Xu found the car complaint platform of China Net, hoping to get help. After understanding the situation, the reporter contacted the customer service of Dongfeng Peugeot factory at the first time. The other party said that it would transfer the situation to the maintenance department in time. However, as of press time, the reporter did not receive the so-called "timely feedback and contact with the owner" from the customer service of the factory. At the same time, the reporter also tried to get in touch with the after-sales manager of Puyang Zhimei Automobile Sales and Service Co., Ltd., Henan Province, but the other party said that he did not know and had been on vacation. According to the owner, the after-sales manager is a staff member who has been communicating with himself about related matters.

At the same time, the reporter learned from the car quality network that Dongfeng Peugeot 408 does have many complaints, among which the wheel hub oxidation problem is serious, mainly concentrated in the 2014, 2015 and 2016 models. In addition, the reporter also saw a large number of cases about the oxidation of Dongfeng Peugeot 408 wheel hub from the complaint forums of other websites. The problem of wheel hub oxidation occurs in such a large number, and the quality of its products is really questionable.

Different claim standards. Does Dongfeng Peugeot have different treatment in cities?

The owner told reporters: "The wheel hub oxidation of 408 is a large area, which is almost an open secret!" Most car owners in their car club reported that their wheels were oxidized to varying degrees, but the claims were different. Some of them had minor oxidation problems, but their claims were successful. Mr. Xu wondered why his claims were so difficult. The manufacturer turned a blind eye to such a serious quality problem. Do Dongfeng Peugeot manufacturers still have so-called urban discrimination? First-and second-tier cities can easily claim success, and car owners in fourth-and fifth-tier cities like themselves will ignore it?

Under the reporter's questioning, Mr. Xu said: His owner group is Henan Dongfeng Peugeot 408 Cheyouhui Group, and almost all Zhengzhou riders with wheel hub oxidation problems in the group have successfully claimed compensation, and some wheel hubs are not as oxidized as his car. In addition, in another Peugeot 408 owner group, the owner of Jinan, Shandong Province, also succeeded in the claim, and the degree of oxidation was not as good as that of Mr. Xu.

Therefore, Mr. Xu, the owner of the car, questioned what is the standard of the manufacturer's claim? Is there any difference between cities? In this regard, the reporter also contacted the Dongfeng Peugeot manufacturer and raised Mr. Xu's question to the other party, but the customer service staff did not respond positively.

Quality problems highlight that Dongfeng Peugeot manufacturers have not taken recall measures.

In addition, according to the owner of Zhengzhou, who claimed successfully, after the wheel hub was replaced free of charge by the manufacturer, the oxidation phenomenon continued to appear, which shows that the problem has not been completely solved. Then, why don't manufacturers take recall measures for the quality problems of large-scale hub outbreaks? At present, the manufacturer has not given any official response to this.

The reporter then consulted the relevant information. In severe cases, hub oxidation will cause chronic air leakage, especially if the contact part between hub and tire is oxidized and deformed, long-term chronic air leakage can lead to tire deviation and even puncture, which seriously affects driving safety.

In addition, Mr. Xu admitted to the reporter: "My car will be out of warranty in April this year. Is it necessary for the manufacturer to delay the warranty period and I will bear the cost personally?" Between words, Mr. Xu showed helplessness and worry.

As a car owner who once trusted and loved Dongfeng Peugeot brand, he is now isolated on the road of claim.
